Septembre the 11th, Pascale Massot held a conference following the third plenum of the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), discussing the vulnerabilities in China’s political economy. She challenges common assumptions about Chinese power, particularly under Xi Jinping, and examines China’s impact on international resource markets. The plenum reaffirmed the role of the state in the Chinese economy, while also highlighting China’s vulnerability in the face of U.S. technological containment policies. The discussion followed the Chatham House Rule, with participation from political and business experts.
