Jean-François Di Meglio, president of Asia Centre, was invited at a live-streamed event of Bruegel (bruegel.org) “Shifts in China’s foreign policy: a closer look at its role in the United Nations • Exploring China’s growing influence and its changing role within the United Nations”, November the 12th.
As China’s foreign policy has been evolving rapidly in the last decade from a focus on the Belt and Road Initiative to a much wider scope with three global initiatives focusing on development but also civilizational and security aspects, this wider scope is having an increasing impact in the functioning of the United Nations with relevant consequences for the European Union.
