For Young European Researchers

Asia Centre is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting initiative aimed at fostering fresh perspectives and innovative research on China’s foreign policy and its global interactions.

Eligibility criteria

Nationality: The main author must be a citizen of a European Union member state.

Age: Main authors and co-authors must be under 30 years old at the time of the application.

Academic Qualifications: Main authors and co-authors should be either Master’s level students, or Master’s graduates.

Research Topics

We invite submissions that explore one or more of the following themes:

  • China’s foreign policy strategies and objectives.
  • Bilateral or multilateral relations between China and other countries or regions.
  • Global perceptions of China and its role on the international stage.

Submission guidelines

Collaboration Encouraged: Teamwork and interdisciplinary approaches are highly valued. Essays may be signed by just one author or by a main author plus co-authors.

Length: Essays should range between 15,000 and 20,000 characters (including spaces).

Format: Articles must adhere to academic standards and include proper citations.*

* Plagia and AI will be filtered out ; citation format needs to be APA 7. Body of the paper should be as follows. Font: Times New Roman, size: 12, line spacing: 1.15, text justified.

The essays will be reviewed by the Asia Centre Editorial Board.

Selected essays will be published on www.asiacentre.eu and/or on Asia Centre’s journal Asia Trends **

** Asia Centre reserves the right to publish the essays (or portions thereof) on any of our platforms, and/or distribution lists.

­Awards and Recognition

The 3 best essays will be awarded with prizes as follows:

  • 1,000 euros for first place.
  • 500 euros for second place.
  • 250 euros for third place.

The top 3 prize winners will be compensated for travel expenses to come to Paris and attend a celebratory event marking the 20th anniversary of Asia Centre later this year. This event will be an invaluable networking opportunity with leading experts and policymakers (conditions apply ***).

*** The travel expense policy will be provided to the registrants.­
