As Ukraine faces the Russian invasion, all eyes are on Mainland China and the decisions it might make regarding the delicate issue of Taiwan. But to make such assumptions, a contextualisation is essential. This is what Maëlle Lefèvre, Asia Centre expert, proposes in her article, by drawing up a list of comparisons between Ukraine and Taiwan in various fields in order to see to what extent Russian move could be the signal of its Chinese equivalent in the short-midterm.
